Purpose
Encouraging farmers to shift from traditional open field cultivation to sheltered farming system. This will enable farmers to mitigate effects of adverse climatic conditions; leverage production capacity and improve quality of farm produce.
Grant Amount
50% grant up to a maximum of Rs 500,000 per structure for a maximum of two structures.
Eligibility Criteria
- Planters operating in the agro-industrial sector for at least one year over a minimum extent of:
- either 0.5 arpent food crops/fruits
- or 0.25 arpent fine herbs/ornamentals
- or sheltered farming on not less than 250m2
- Holder of title deed or registered lease agreement for a minimum of 7 years post-application for land hosting the project
- The proposed sheltered farming project should be at least 250m2.
- A layout where the unit (s) will be constructed
- Holder of a Building & Land Use Permit (BLUP), or a zoning certificate from District Council or Municipality certifying that the plot is outside residential area.
- For Cooperative/Companies- Turnover should not exceed Rs 10M.
- Those who have already benefited from this scheme twice are not eligible.
- New Promoters should have followed a training course in Hydroponics/sheltered farming, and use of pesticide at FAREI
