Applications are invited from qualified candidates who wish to be considered for appointment in the post of Transport Organiser at the Food and Agricultural Research and Extension Institute (FAREI).

Appointment to the post will be initially on a temporary basis for a period of one year. Subject to satisfactory service, candidate may be offered substantive appointment.

I. AGE LIMIT
Candidates unless already employed in the public service or in parastatal organisations should not have reached their 45th birthday by the closing date for the submission of applications.

II. QUALIFICATIONS :
A. A. A Cambridge Higher School Certificate with a pass at “Principal Level” in Mathematics or passes in at least two subjects including Mathematics obtained on one certificate at the General Certificate of Education “Advanced Level” or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the Board.
B. Candidates should –
(i) possess knowledge in the organisation and running of a transport section; and
(ii) be computer literate

III. SALARY

The temporary appointment will carry flat salary at the rate of Rs 19,225 a month.
The permanent and pensionable post carries salary in scale:
Rs 19225 x 300 – 19525 x 325 – 21475 x 375 – 22225 x 400 – 23425 x 525 – 26050 x 675 – 27400 x 825 – 35650 x 900 – 37450 x 950 – 40300 (FAREI 21)

IV. LIST OF DUTIES
1. To be responsible for the operation and supervision of a transport section (fleet of vehicles and garage).
2. To monitor the use of vehicles of the Institute and to organise transport for official purpose.
3. To arrange for transport facilities to be made available, as and when required, to all units of the FAREI.
4. To plan and arrange for the regular maintenance and service of all vehicles.
5. To maintain a record system for monitoring the use and performance of vehicles.
6. To ensure compliance with road traffic regulations.
7. To use ICT in the performance of his duties.
8. To perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from the Transport Organiser in the roles ascribed to him.

V. MODE OF APPLICATION

Instructions to candidates:
1. Only application made on the prescribed form will be accepted.
2. Incomplete, inadequate or inaccurate filling of the form will lead to disqualification and elimination of the candidate.
3. Applicant should possess all certificates/qualifications at time of application.
4. Copy of certificates and Identity Card must be attached to the application form.
5. Documentary evidence will have to be submitted for experience claimed & should be attached at the time of application.
6. The onus for the submission of equivalence of qualification (if applicable) from the relevant authorities (Tertiary Education Commission or Mauritius Qualifications Authority) rests on the candidates. Applications will not be considered failing the non-submission of Equivalence Certificate, as appropriate, by the closing date.
7. The post applied for should be clearly marked on the top left-hand corner of the envelope.
8. Application received after closing date will not be accepted.

VI. CLOSING DATE
