Applications are invited from qualified candidates who wish to be considered for employment at the Food and Agricultural Research and Extension Institute (FAREI) for the post of Procurement Officer (on Contract).

I TERMS AND CONDITIONS
The recruitment will be on contract basis for an initial period of one year with possibility of renewal, subject to favourable report on performance.

II QUALIFICATIONS

Candidates should possess
(i) a Certificate in Purchasing and Supply Management from a recognised institution or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the Board.
(ii) at least two years’ experience in procurement duties
Candidates should produce written evidence of experience/knowledge claimed.

III SALARY
The post carries a flat salary of Rs 24, 475.

IV LIST OF DUTIES

1. To perform procurement, storekeeping and stock control duties in accordance with procurement and supply regulations and procedures in force and the Public Procurement Act 2006.
2. To organise and manage procurement and supply activities.
3. To assist the Stores Superintendent in any assignment related to procurement, supply and warehouse operations.
4. To provide support to project teams on procurement issues.
5. To keep proper records of all receipts, issues of stores and stationeries and of transactions.
6. To prepare evaluation reports and compile data contained in quotations
7. To verify that physical quantities tally with quantities in stores ledger.
8. To manage filing of administrative and technical documents and update registers/ledgers regularly.
9. To conduct market survey
10. To coordinate with supplier for on-time delivery and follow-up on purchases.
11. To use ICT in the performance of his duties.
12. To perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from Procurement Officer in the roles ascribed to him.

2. Incomplete, inadequate or inaccurate filling of the form will lead to disqualification and elimination of the candidate.
3. Applicant should possess all certificates/qualifications at time of application.
4. Copy of certificates and Identity Card must be attached to the application form.
5. Documentary evidence will have to be submitted for experience claimed.
6. The onus for the submission of equivalence of qualification (if applicable) from the relevant authorities (Tertiary Education Commission or Mauritius Qualifications Authority) rests on the candidates. Applications will not be considered failing the non-submission of Equivalence Certificate, as appropriate, by the closing date.
7. The post applied for should be clearly marked on the top left-hand corner of the envelope.

VI CLOSING DATE
