Under the STORSAR II project, the FAREI is organising a field day on Biofortified Crops on 20 August 2026 ( 13:00 – 15:00) at the Reduit Crop Research Station.  The aim is to raise awareness on the nutritional and health benefits of biofortified crops, with particular emphasis on the biofortified bean pulse variety Ferrina.

The objectives of the event are:

1. To sensitise people on micronutrient deficiencies – “Hidden Hunger”
2. To strengthen appreciation of the nutritional value of biofortified crops among consumers
3. To disseminate seeds of biofortified bean seeds to increase its adoption for pulse production
4. To promote consumption of biofortified bean through healthy recipes
5. To strengthen Food and Nutrition security
