MODE OF APPLICATION

Eligible applicants are required to fill in and submit to the FAREI, the appropriate application form together with supporting document, wherever applicable, as follows:

  • Copy of registration certificate in case of Companies/ Farmers Associations or Copy of Small Planters Welfare Fund (SFWF) registration card, in case of individuals;
  • Copy of Identity Card for individual applicant or delegated representative of Companies /Farmers Associations;
  • Copy of relevant permits, licenses authorizing agricultural activities;
  • Proof of funding from a recognised financial institution (e.g. updated letter from bank);
  • Quotation(s) from the Supplier(s);
  • Lay out plan/s of projected development in case of scheme for rainwater harvesting system and CCTV camera; and
  • History card/Tag number of the animal(s) and veterinary report on health status of each animal to be purchased for cattle/goat/sheep breeding scheme.

Application forms are available at any sub office of the Food and Agricultural Research and Extension Institute (FAREI) or can be downloaded from: Ministry’s website: http://agriculture.govmu.org and FAREI’s website: farei@intnet.mu
Duly filled application form/s supported with relevant documents should be submitted at the nearest sub-offices of FAREI for further process.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  1. Beneficiaries will have obligation to sign an agreement with the Ministry of Agro-Industry & Food Security (represented by FAREI) upon approval of respective request for financial support.
  2. All facilities funded under Sheltered Farming Scheme will be utilised solely for horticultural production.
  3. Eligible farmers/entrepreneurs should have been in farming business for at least one year; and are cultivating a minimum land area of 0.5 arpent under foodcrop or 0.25 arpent for fine herbs, at time of application.
  4. Family farming activities will have only one beneficiary (either the husband or spouse). In case of son or daughter, each should have title deed testifying separate land tenure and proof of separate household.
  5. Applicants will benefit from each scheme only once.
  6. Maximum allowable cash grant for any beneficiary will not exceed Rs500,000.
  7. Final disbursement is conditional to proof of purchase and confirmation by FAREI field extension officers of presence of acquired material/equipment on site in addition to projected agricultural activities being operational.

Farmers:

Farmers have to fill the appropriate application form and submit supporting documents as follows:

  1. Copy of registration certificate in case of Companies/ Farmers Associations or Copy of Small Farmers Welfare Fund (SFWF) registration card in case of individuals.
  2. Copy of Identity Card for the applicant and for representative of Companies /Farmer’s Associations
  3. Copy of relevant permits and licences, where applicable.
  4. Proof of funding from a recognised financial institution (e.g recent letter/statement from bank)
  5. Detailed Quotation(s) from the Supplier(s).
  6. Layout/Sketch/Design, where applicable.

Breeders:

Breeders have to fill the appropriate application form and submit the following documents:

  1. Copy of registration certificate in case of Companies/farmers association or copy of breeder’s card in case of individuals;
  2. Copy of Identity Card for applicant and for representative of Companies /Farmers Associations
  3. Proof of funding from a recognised financial institution (e.g., recent letter/statement from bank);
  4. History card/Tag number of the animal(s) and veterinary report on the health status of each animal to be purchased; and
  5. Detailed Quotation (s) from the Supplier(s).

The application form duly filled along with the relevant documents should be submitted to the respective regional sub-offices of FAREI.

SPECIAL CONDITIONS

  1. Applications are restricted to new projects only (not yet implemented or started)
  2. All facilities funded should be utilised solely for horticultural and livestock development.
  3. Only one beneficiary per household (either the husband or spouse). For the son or daughter, they should have their title deed separately.
  4. Applicants will benefit from the Schemes only once, except for Sheltered Farming, Purchase of Agricultural/Processing Equipment (Crop and Livestock), Banana Bagging, Calf Purchase scheme as detailed in the Eligibility Criteria.
  5. Upon approval, an Agreement will be signed between the Ministry (represented by FAREI) and the beneficiary.
  6. Final disbursement is conditional to proof of purchase, verification on site and project is operational.
  7. The committee reserves the right to reject any application.
