Household Aquaponic Gardening Scheme
The Ministry of Agro-Industry and Food Security wishes to inform the public that a new Household Gardening Scheme is being implemented in collaboration with the Food and Agricultural Research and Extension Institute (FAREI).
The said scheme primarily aims at promoting sustainable gardening in backyards to encourage food crop cultivation at household level. The scheme would facilitate access to an aquaponics system farming structure of an overall size of 7m X 1m consisting of fish tank, planting area and all accessories as per model from a selected supplier.
Prospective beneficiaries are eligible to a cash grant representing 50% on cost of farming structures/systems to be purchased, up to a maximum of Rs 25,000 per household on a first come first serve basis.
Those interested to benefit from this scheme are invited to submit their application by filling in an application form which can be downloaded from the website of the Ministry (https://agriculture.govmu.org) and FAREI (https://farei.mu) or collected at the FAREI regional offices as follows:

Duly filled in application forms, together with copies of National Identity Card and proof of residential address of applicants must reach FAREI offices as mentioned above at latest by 29 March 2024.
