Subject to satisfactory service, candidates may be offered substantive appointment.<\/strong> <\/p><p><strong>I MODE OF APPLICATION<\/strong><br \/>Candidates should submit their applications on the prescribed application form which, may be obtained from the Registries of the Institute or downloaded from website of FAREI (farei.mu).<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>NOTE<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">(i) Only the best qualified candidates will be called for interview.<br \/>(ii) The completed form should contain full details regarding the applicant\u2019s experience, qualifications and other factors which would qualify him to carry out the duties of the post.<br \/>(iii) A copy of the National Identity Card together with copies of educational certificates should be attached to the application form.<br \/>(iv) Only application made on the prescribed form will be accepted.<br \/>(v) Incomplete, inadequate or inaccurate filling of the form will lead to disqualification and elimination of the candidate.<br \/>(vi) Applicants should possess all certificates\/qualifications at time of application.<br \/>(vii) The onus for the submission of equivalence of qualification (if applicable) from the relevant authorities (Tertiary Education Commission or Mauritius Qualifications Authority) rests on the candidates. Applications will not be considered failing the non-submission of Equivalence Certificate, as appropriate, by the closing date.<br \/>(viii) The post applied for should be clearly marked on the top left-hand corner of the envelope.<br \/>(ix) Application received after closing date will not be accepted. style=\"text-align: center;\">POST OF DRIVER \u2013 INTERNAL VACANCY<\/h6><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>I QUALIFICATIONS:<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p>By selection from among serving employees on the permanent and pensionable establishment of the Food and Agricultural Research and Extension Institute (FAREI) who:<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">(i) possess the Certificate of Primary Education;<br \/>(ii) possess a valid driving licence (manual gears) to drive cars or vans or minibuses or light tractors or lorries up to 5 tons;<br \/>(iii) have a basic knowledge of mechanics and simple vehicle maintenance; and<br \/>(iv) have good eyesight.<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>NOTE 1<\/strong><\/span><br \/>In the absence of candidates not possessing the qualification at (i) above, consideration will be given provided they show proof of being literate.<br \/><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>NOTE 2<\/strong><\/span><br \/>Selected candidates will be required to undergo a medical test to assess their eyesight.<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>II SALARY:<\/strong><\/span> <br \/>Flat Salary at the rate of Rs24,245. The permanent and pensionable post carries salary in scale:<br \/>Rs 24,245 x 300 \u2013 26,945 x 320 \u2013 28,865 x 350 \u2013 30965 x 400 \u2013 31,765 x 425 \u2013 33,040 x 560 \u2013 35,840 x 725 \u2013 37,290 (FAREI 9 )<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>III LIST OF DUTIES:<\/strong><\/span> <br \/>1. To drive vehicles of the Institute for the conveyance of staff and visitors, materials and equipment in connection with the activities of the organisation.<br \/>2. To carry out simple checks\/maintenance tasks including:<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">(a) checking of radiator or overflow tank for water level and filling up with water, if necessary;<br \/>(b) checking of engine oil-level and topping up, if necessary, and reporting any unusual oil consumption;<br \/>(c) checking of fluid levels of brake master cylinder and clutch master cylinder and topping up, if necessary;<br \/>(d) checking of wheel nuts for wheel tightness and checking of all wheels including spare wheel for the tyre pressure and uneven\/abnormal wear;<br \/>(e) monitoring mileage run\/period vehicle is used, and inform the officer-in-charge of transport when servicing is due;<br \/>(f) washing and cleaning the vehicle\u2019s body and interiors;<br \/>(g) ensuring that the interior of the vehicle is kept clean at all times and free of dust;<br \/>(h) checking of battery electrolyte level and topping up, as and when necessary; and<br \/>(i) checking of all lights, horn, wipers, brake and clutch to ensure that they are in good working condition.<\/p><p>3. To report any defect observed to the officer-in-charge of transport and take vehicle to workshop for repair\/servicing as instructed by the latter.<br \/>4. To attend to minor repairs such as cleaning of spark plugs, replacing of fuse or bulb, changing of tyres and making arrangements for mending of punctures in the event of breakdown on the road.<br \/>5. To help, whenever required, the mechanic when the vehicle under his charge breaks down on the road and has to be towed or repaired on the spot.<br \/>6. To keep a log book and record issue of fuel, all movements, tyres and battery changes.<br \/>7. To perform messengerial duties such as running errands, despatch of correspondence and distribution of files and documents, as and when required.<br \/>8. To perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from the Driver in the roles ascribed to him.<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>NOTE<\/strong><\/span><br \/>1. Drivers may be required to work outside normal working hours including Sundays and Public Holidays.<br \/>2.
