Subject to satisfactory service, candidates may be offered substantive appointment.<\/strong><\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>I. QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/span> <br \/>By selection from among serving officers on the permanent and pensionable establishment of FAREI possessing:<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">A. A Cambridge Higher School Certificate with passes at \u201cPrincipal Level\u201d in two science subjects or Passes in at least two science subjects obtained on one certificate at the General Certificate of Education \u201cAdvanced Level\u201d. <br \/>B. A degree in one of the following fields from a recognised institution:-<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">(i) Horticulture <br \/>(ii) Plant Pathology<br \/>(iii) Botany<br \/>(iv) Agricultural Botany<br \/>(v) Agricultural Science<br \/>(vi) Agriculture<br \/>(vii) Crop Science<br \/>(viii) Crop Protection<br \/>OR<br \/>Equivalent qualification to A and B above acceptable to the Board.<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">C. Candidates should \u2013<\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 80px;\">(i) reckon at least three years\u2019 experience in duties related to Agriculture;<br \/>(ii) possess leadership and organising skills;<br \/>(iii) possess analytical, interpersonal and communication skills; <br \/>(iv) have the ability to work in a multi-disciplinary team; and<br \/>(v) be computer literate.<\/p><p><strong>Note 1:<\/strong><br \/>In the absence of qualified serving officers, by selection from among candidates who possess qualifications specified at A, B and C above or equivalent qualification acceptable to the Board.<br \/><strong>Note 2:<\/strong><br \/>(i) Qualification for Cambridge Higher School Certificate of Education \u2018Advanced Level\u201d under A above should have been obtained prior to qualification at degree level specified at B above.<br \/>(ii) Candidates should produce written evidence of experience\/knowledge claimed.<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>II. SALARY<\/strong><\/span><br \/>The temporary appointment will carry flat salary at the rate of Rs28225 a month.<br \/>The permanent and pensionable post carries salary in scale:<br \/><strong>Rs 28225 x 825 &#8211; 35650 x 900 &#8211; 37450 x 950 &#8211; 42200 x 1300 &#8211; 46100 x 1575 &#8211; 49250 x 1650 &#8211; 54200 x 1700 &#8211; 64400 x 1800 &#8211; 69800 (FAREI 39)<\/strong><\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>III. LIST OF DUTIES<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">1. To assist the Head of the Plant Pathology Research Division in the preparation of research and development programmes, the management and the proper functioning of the Division.<br \/>2. To identify plant disease problems and constraints faced by the stakeholders in relation to improvement of crop production.<br \/>3. To prepare administrative and technical reports for monitoring progress of work.<br \/>4. To assist in the monitoring and evaluation of research or extension activities.<br \/>5. To liaise with other research and extension divisions\/units for feedback, coordination of activities, for collaborative work and to provide specialist support.<br \/>6. To prepare work programmes and resource requirements and to implement approved research programmes.<br \/>7. To present research results and conclusions through scientific publications, technical reports and extension messages, and participate in extension and training activities.<br \/>8. To communicate on research outcomes and ensure transfer of knowledge to extension and to other staff.<br \/>9. To manage resources allocated to research project\/s.<br \/>10. To keep abreast of technological advances in respective disciplines\/areas of responsibility.<br \/>11. To attend Boards and Committees, as and when required.<br \/>12. To assist in the implementation of the Performance Management System (PMS) in the Division.<br \/>13. To use ICT in the performance of his duties.<br \/>14. To perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from the Research Scientist\/Senior Research Scientist (Plant Pathology) in the roles ascribed to him.<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>IV. MODE OF APPLICATION<\/strong><\/span><br \/>Qualified candidates may collect the application form during working hours at the FAREI, Head Office, Reduit or may download the application form from the website of FAREI (farei.mu). <br \/><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Instructions to candidates:<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p style=\"padding-left: 40px;\">1. Only application made on the prescribed form will be accepted.<br \/>2. Incomplete, inadequate or inaccurate filling of the form will lead to disqualification and elimination of the candidate.<br \/>3. Applicant should possess all certificates\/qualifications at time of application.<br \/>4. Copy of certificates, and Identity Card must be attached to the application form.<br \/>5. Documentary evidence will have to be submitted for experience claimed &amp; should be attached at the time of application.<br \/><strong>6. The onus for the submission of equivalence of qualification (if applicable) from the relevant authorities (Tertiary Education Commission or Mauritius Qualifications Authority) rests on the candidates. Applications will not be considered failing the non-submission of Equivalence Certificate, as appropriate, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">by the closing date.<\/span><\/strong><br \/>7.
