Subject to satisfactory service, candidates may be offered substantive appointment.<\/strong><\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>I AGE LIMIT<\/strong><\/span><br \/>Candidates unless already employed in the public service or in parastatal organisations should not have reached their 45th birthday by the closing date for the submission of applications.<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>II. QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p>A. A Cambridge Higher School Certificate with a pass at \u201cPrincipal Level\u201d in Accounting or passes in at least two subjects including Accounting obtained on one certificate at the General Certificate of Education \u201cAdvanced Level\u201d or an equivalent qualification acceptable to the Board.<br \/>B. (i) A pass in Accounting at Third Level of the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry and at least two years\u2019 experience in finance\/audit duties.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">OR<\/p><p>\u00a0 \u00a0(ii) A Certificate in Book Keeping (Level 2) formerly Intermediate Stage from the London Chamber of Commerce and Industry and at least four years\u2019 experience <br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0in finance\/audit duties.<\/p><p style=\"text-align: center;\">OR<\/p><p>\u00a0 \u00a0Equivalent qualification to B(i) and B(ii) above acceptable to the Board.<br \/>C. A Certificate in Spreadsheet or knowledge of Computer Operation and standard software packages<br \/>Candidates should produce written evidence of experience\/knowledge claimed.<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>III. SALARY<\/strong><\/span><br \/>The temporary appointment will carry flat salary at the rate of Rs 19,850 a month. The permanent and pensionable post carries salary in scale:<br \/>Rs19,850 x 325 \u2013 21,475 x 375 &#8211; 22,225 x 400 \u2013 23,425 x 525 \u2013 26,050 x 675 \u2013 27,400 x 825 \u2013 35,650 x 900 \u2013 37,450 (FAREI 20).<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>IV. LIST OF DUTIES<\/strong><\/span><br \/>1. To ensure that all the financial transactions of the organisation are properly accounted for in accordance with basic principles of Financial Management.<br \/>2. To ensure the correct financing of organisational policy with all safeguards against waste and loss.<br \/>3. To maintain a proper system of accounts and to guard against irregularities.<br \/>4. To assist in the preparation and maintaining of Estimates.<br \/>5. To keep proper, complete and up to date records of all financial transactions such as cash books, ledgers and registers.<br \/>6. To assist in the preparation of returns.<br \/>7. To attend to audit queries.<br \/>8. To effect payments in time.<br \/>9. To ensure that financial accounting and procurement regulations are understood, correctly applied and fully complied with.<br \/>10. To use ICT in the performance of his duties.<br \/>11. To perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from the Accounts Clerk in the roles ascribed to him.<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>V. MODE OF APPLICATION<\/strong><\/span><br \/>Qualified candidates may collect the application form during working hours at the Food and Agricultural Research and Extension Institute, Head Office, Reduit or may download the application form from the website of FAREI (farei.mu).<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Instructions to candidates are:<\/strong><\/span><br \/>1. Only application made on the prescribed form will be accepted.<br \/>2. Incomplete, inadequate or inaccurate filling of the form will lead to disqualification and elimination of the candidate.<br \/>3. Applicant should possess all certificates\/qualifications at time of application.<br \/>4. Copy of certificates and Identity Card must be attached to the application form.<br \/>5. Documentary evidence will have to be submitted for experience claimed &amp; should be attached at the time of application.<br \/><strong>6. The onus for the submission of equivalence of qualification (if applicable) from the relevant authorities (Tertiary Education Commission or Mauritius Qualifications Authority) rests on the candidates. Applications will not be considered failing the non-submission of Equivalence Certificate, as appropriate, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">by the closing date.<\/span><\/strong><br \/>7. The post applied for should be clearly marked on the top left-hand corner of the envelope.<br \/><strong>8.
