Subject to satisfactory service, candidates may be offered substantive appointment.<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>II. AGE LIMIT<\/strong><\/span><br \/>Candidates unless already employed in the public service or in parastatal organisations should not have reached their <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>45th<\/strong><\/span> birthday by the closing date for the submission of applications.<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>III. QUALIFICATIONS<\/strong><\/span><br \/>I. By selection from among officers in the grade of Accounts Clerk of the Food and Agricultural Research and Extension Institute who reckon at least two years\u2019 service in a substantive capacity in the grade and who possess \u2013<\/p><p style=\"margin-left: 25px;\">A. a Cambridge Higher School Certificate with a pass at \u201cPrincipal Level\u201d in Mathematics or Accounting or Passes in at least two subjects including Mathematics or Accounting obtained on one certificate at the General Certificate of Education \u201cAdvanced Level\u201d; and<\/p><p style=\"margin-left: 25px;\">B. a diploma in Accounting from a recognised institution or passes in Papers F1, F2 and F3 of the Fundamentals (Knowledge) (formerly Part 1) of the ACCA Examinations.<\/p><p style=\"margin-left: 25px;\">OR<br \/>Equivalent qualifications to A and B above acceptable to the Board.<\/p><p style=\"margin-left: 25px;\">NOTE<br \/>In the absence of officers of the Food and Agricultural Research and Extension Institute who do not possess the qualifications at A and B above, by selection from among candidates who possess \u2013<br \/>(i) a Cambridge Higher School Certificate with a pass at \u201cPrincipal Level\u201d in Mathematics or Accounting or Passes in at least two subjects including Mathematics or Accounting obtained on one certificate at the General Certificate of Education \u201cAdvanced Level\u201d; and<br \/>(ii) a diploma in Accounting from a recognised institution or passes in Papers F1, F2 and F3 of the Fundamentals (Knowledge) (formerly Part 1) of the ACCA Examinations.<br \/>OR<br \/>Equivalent qualifications to (i) and (ii) above acceptable to the Board.<\/p><p>II. Candidates should \u2013<\/p><p style=\"margin-left: 25px;\">(i) possess analytical skills<br \/>(ii) be computer literate and have knowledge of standard software package; and<br \/>(iii) reckon at least two years\u2019 experience in financial duties.<br \/>Candidates should produce written evidence of knowledge\/experience claimed.<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>IV. SALARY<\/strong><\/span><br \/>The temporary appointment will carry flat salary at the rate of Rs 24,475 a month.<br \/>The permanent and pensionable post carries salary in scale:<br \/>Rs 24475 x 525 &#8211; 26050 x 675 &#8211; 27400 x 825 &#8211; 35650 x 900 &#8211; 37450 x 950 &#8211; 42200 x 1300 &#8211; 46100 x 1575 &#8211; 49250 (FAREI 30)<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>V. LIST OF DUTIES:<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p style=\"margin-left: 25px;\">1. To be responsible to the Accountant or the Manager, Finance for the day-to-day running of the Accounts Department and the supervision of its staff.<br \/>2. To ensure that financial accounting and stores regulations are understood, correctly applied and fully complied with.<br \/>3. To control and discharge expenditure and payments in compliance with regulations.<br \/>4. To control and collect revenue and receipts and ensure the safekeeping and banking thereof.<br \/>5. To exercise budgetary control and ensure the proper care and control of funds, stores, etc.<br \/>6. To attend to audit queries on financial issues, provide materials for proper replies and take corrective measures, as directed.<br \/>7. To prepare and submit financial statements\/returns, as and when required.<br \/>8. To ensure that financial accounting and stores regulations are understood, correctly applied and fully complied with.<br \/>9. To guide and train subordinate staff.<br \/>10. To use ICT in the performance of his duties, whenever required.<br \/>11. To perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from the Accounts Officer\/Senior Accounts Officer in the roles ascribed to him.<\/p><p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>VI. MODE OF APPLICATION<\/strong><\/span><br \/>Qualified candidates are kindly requested to call during working hours at the Food and Agricultural Research and Extension Institute, Head Office, Reduit to collect the application form or to download the application form from the website of FAREI (farei.mu). A list of duties of the post is also available on the website.<br \/><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Instructions to candidates:<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p style=\"margin-left: 25px;\">1. Only application made on the prescribed form will be accepted.<br \/>2. Incomplete, inadequate or inaccurate filling of the form will lead to disqualification and elimination of the candidate.<br \/>3. Applicant should possess all certificates\/qualifications at time of application.<br \/>4. Copy of certificates and Identity Card must be attached to the application form.<br \/>5. Documentary evidence will have to be submitted for experience claimed and should be attached at the time of application.<br \/><strong>6. The onus for the submission of equivalence of qualification (if applicable) from the relevant authorities (Higher Education Commission or Mauritius Qualifications Authority) rests on the candidates. Applications will not be considered failing the non-submission of Equivalence Certificate, as appropriate, <span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\">by the closing date.<\/span><\/strong><br \/>7.
