Subject to satisfactory service, candidates may be offered substantive appointment.<\/strong><\/span><\/p><p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">II. QUALIFICATIONS<\/span><\/strong> <br \/>By selection from among officers in the grade of Principal Research Scientist (Crops), Principal Research Scientist (Plant Pathology), Principal Research Scientist (Entomology) and Agricultural Coordinators of the Food and Agricultural Research and Extension Institute (FAREI) who reckon at least four years\u2019 service in a substantive capacity in respective grade and who possess-<\/p><p>A. (i) A Degree in Agriculture or in a field related to Agriculture from a recognised institution; and<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 (ii) A Master\u2019s degree in Agriculture or in a field related to Agriculture from a recognised institution.<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0OR<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 Equivalent qualifications to A(i) and A(ii) above acceptable to the Board.<br \/>B. Candidates should possess \u2013<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(a) Good managerial and problem-solving abilities; and<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0(b) Good leadership and communication skills.<\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>III. SALARY<\/strong><\/span><br \/>The temporary appointment will carry flat salary at the rate of Rs 68,000 a month.<br \/>The permanent and pensionable post carries salary in scale:<br \/>Rs 68000 x 1800 &#8211; 69800 x 2000 &#8211; 75800 x 2150 &#8211; 82250 x 3000 &#8211; 88250 x 3125 \u2013 94500 (FAREI 48)<\/p><p><strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">IV. LIST OF DUTIES<\/span><\/strong><br \/><strong>Roles and Responsibilities:<\/strong> To be responsible for the planning, coordination, implementation and \u00a0evaluation of FAREI\u2019s crop research and development programmes and for the administrative and financial management of the Crop Research Department.<br \/><strong>Duties<\/strong>: 1. To advise the Chief Executive Officer and the Director on technological advances in Crop Research and related issues.<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 2. To assist the Director in the identification of national priorities, strategies and policies for crop research and development.<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 3. To assist in the identification of training needs for FAREI staff and contribute to training activities.<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 4. To ensure effective transfer of technologies to the farming community through the Extension and Training Department.<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 5. To liaise with other research and extension institutions for collaborative work.<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 6. To attend Boards and Committees, as and when required.<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 7. To assist in the implementation of the Performance Management System (PMS) in the Division.<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 8. To use ICT in the performance of his duties.<br \/>\u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 \u00a0 9. To perform such other duties directly related to the main duties listed above or related to the delivery of the output and results expected from the Assistant Director (Crops) in the roles ascribed to him.<\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>V. MODE OF APPLICATION<\/strong><\/span><br \/>Qualified candidates are kindly requested to call during working hours at the Food and Agricultural Research and Extension Institute, Head Office, Reduit to collect the application form or to download the application form from the website of FAREI (farei.mu).<\/p><p><span style=\"color: #000000;\"><strong>Instructions to candidates are:<\/strong><\/span><br \/>1. Only application made on the prescribed form will be accepted.<br \/>2. Incomplete, inadequate or inaccurate filling of the form will lead to disqualification and elimination of the candidate.<br \/>3. Applicant should possess all certificates\/qualifications at time of application.<br \/>4. Copy of certificates and Identity Card must be attached to the application form.<br \/>5. Documentary evidence will have to be submitted for experience\/knowledge claimed and should be attached at the time of application.<br \/>6. The onus for the submission of equivalence of qualification (if applicable) from the relevant authorities (Tertiary Education Commission or Mauritius Qualifications Authority) rests on the candidates. Applications will not be considered failing the non-submission of Equivalence Certificate, as appropriate, <strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">by the closing date<\/span><\/strong>.<br \/>7. The post applied for should be clearly marked on the top left-hand corner of the envelope.<br \/>8. <strong><span style=\"color: #000000;\">Application received after closing date<\/span> <span style=\"color: #000000;\">will not be accepted<\/span><\/strong>.
