Overview

The Animal Production Division aims at raising the production and productivity of livestock enterprises by developing improved management practices and techniques, feeding packages using locally available feed resources, improved breeds and the conservation and utilization of animal genetic resources. Emerging themes like farm economics, waste management, milk processing and livestock activities as alternative to sugar production are also addressed.

Objectives

Research and development activities are oriented towards ruminant and non-ruminant species: Cattle, Goat, Sheep, Deer, Rabbit, Pig and Poultry (Layers, Broilers, Ducks, Quails).

Staff

The Principal Research Scientist is the Head of the Animal Production Division and is under the responsibility of the Assistant Director( Livestock). He is supported by 8 Research Scientists/Senior Research Scientists and 1 Assistant Research Scientist as follows:
